He provides advice and counsel to a variety of clients including the utility industry, financial service companies and real estate builders/developers. In addition to his representation of a major electric utility, Rick’s clients include a nationally recognized home builder/developer, as well as various financial institutions.
Throughout his professional career, Rick has assisted his clients in sophisticated transactions with total value of more than $3 billion. He has handled a wide range of innovative financing transactions and was instrumental in developing the leveraged leaseback structure currently used by electric cooperatives nationwide. Rick regularly provides advice and counsel to clients concerning lending transactions, mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, reorganizations, workouts and public and private offerings of debt and equity.
Rick has extensive experience with historic renovation projects. Because of his well-established working relationships with state and local governmental agencies, clients engage Rick to obtain zoning and architectural review approvals for their historic renovation projects. He also assists developers in structuring projects to qualify for federal and state historic renovation tax credits, as well as in attracting tax credit equity investors.
